Day 01: Arrive Delhi
We at Delight India Holiday welcome you to your Buddhist Pilgrimage with Taj Mahal tour. After arriving at the Delhi Airport you will be received by our representative, who will take you to your pre-booked hotel. You must be tired so, after check-in at the hotel take some rest and get refreshed. Later in the evening you can visit Red fort to enjoy the Light and sound show. Red fort was the residence of Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years. After dinner, rest for the night at your hotel.
Day 02: Delhi – Agra
After breakfast proceed to Agra – the city of marbles . En route you will visit Fatehpur sikiri – a city founded by a 16th-century Mughal emperor. After arriving in Delhi, check in to the hotel, then you will proceed to explore the 16th century Agra Fort also known as the “Lal – Qila”, house to a number of exquisite buildings and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Agra fort, Shah Jahan spent his last days imprisoned by his son, Aurangzeb. In the evening, you will visit the Taj Mahal, one of the 7 wonders of the world. The Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz, that is why it is known as a symbol of love. Visiting the beautiful monument at Sunset gives you a unique experience, the beautiful monument looks even more gratifying at Sunset. Have your dinner in a famous Mughal restaurant of the city and then back to your hotel for the night.
Day 03: Agra – Lucknow
Early in the morning we will drop you at the Agra railway station to take your train to Lucknow. After reaching Lucknow check in to the hotel. In the evening you’re free to relax at the hotel. Have dinner and rest for the night.
Day 04: Lucknow – Balrampur
After breakfast proceed for Balrampur, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Kosala, this town is famous for sheltering Lord Buddha for 24 rainy seasons in the Jetvana Gaardens. This holy place also has the famous Anand Bodhi tree, an offspring of the one, said to have been planted by Lord Buddha’s disciple Anand. Have dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Balrampur – Lumbini
Post breakfast drive to Lumbini. Lumbini is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi District of Nepal. It is the place where, according to Buddhist tradition, Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama in 563 BCE. After arriving in Lumbini check in to the hotel. After lunch visit Maya Devi temple – the birth place Of Lord Buddha. After dinner rest overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: Lumbini – Kushinagar
Post breakfast drive to Kushinagar. After arriving in Kushinagar check in at the hotel, then proceed for a guided tour in Kushinagar, visit Japanese Temple, Mukutbandhan Chaitya – Ramabhar Stupa, Archaeological Site at Kusinagar. Have dinner and rest for the night.
Day 07: Kushinagar – Patna
After breakfast proceed towards Patna, en route visit Vaishali. Check in to the hotel after reaching your destination. You’re free to relax in the evening. Have dinner and rest for the night.
Day 08: Patna – Nalanda –Rajgir-Bodhgaya
After breakfast drive to Bodhgaya. En route visit Nalanda and Rajgir. After reaching Bodhgaya check in to the hotel. Later, proceed for guided tour of Bodhgaya, visit Mahabodhi Temple. Mahabodhi Vihar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a Buddhist temple in Bodh Gaya, marking the location where the Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment. Then visit Bodhi Tree, Tergar Monastery, Wat Thai Buddhagaya, Royal Bhutan Temple. Have dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 09: Bodhgaya
After breakfast go for a Full day guided excursion to Saptapari Cave, Saptparni Cave or Sattaparnaguha Cave is located on a hill where the first Buddhist council was held immediately after Buddha attained Nirvana. Back to hotel for Dinner and rest for the night.
Day 10: Bodhgaya – Varanasi
After breakfast check out of the hotel and proceed to Varanasi, after reaching Varanasi check in to your hotel. After lunch proceed to Sarnath – the very place where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon. Must-see places in Sarnath are the Dhamekha stupa, Buddhist temples and the archaeological museum. Have dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 11: Varanasi – Depart
After breakfast check out of the hotel. We will drop you at the Varanasi airport to take your flight back home.
